On 1 March 2026, the Institute of Marine Affairs, PROMAR's partner in Trinidad and Tobago, hosted a booth at the Matura Beach Clean-Up at Orosco Bay, organized by the NGO Nature Seekers. Approximately 120 participants received information on the PROMAR project and a range of marine environmental topics, and took part in interactive activities to win promotional prizes.

The event took place in direct preparation for the leatherback turtle nesting season, which runs from March to August each year and sees hundreds of leatherback sea turtles arrive on the shores of Trinidad to nest. The leatherback is the largest and oldest of all sea turtle species, with adult individuals typically measuring between 1.5 and 1.8 metres in length and weighing between 270 and 360 kg.
