PROMAR Suriname Launches Video Competition on Plastic Pollution

PROMAR Suriname has opened a call for aspiring and experienced filmmakers to produce short mini documentaries that spotlight plastic pollution across Suriname. The competition aims to support local storytellers while generating original, locally grounded content on nature, the environment, and the growing impacts of plastic waste.

Six participants will be selected to create their own mini documentary and will each receive a USD 1,000 production budget. Selected filmmakers will also benefit from professional guidance throughout the entire process and the completed films will be screened at a local cinema during a special showcase event.

The requirements are:

  • Applicants must be at least 14 years old and currently living in Suriname. 

  • Both beginners and experienced creators are welcome to apply. 

  • Recordings may be made using a phone, tablet, or camera, as long as the video remains stable and clear and the audio is easy to understand. 

  • Only original content is eligible, and 

  • Each film should focus on nature, the environment, and plastic pollution.
