On 15 August 2026, Green VI hosted their second PROMAR Quiz Night, this time at Cocomaya restaurant on Virgin Gorda, bringing together participants from across Virgin Gorda and Tortola for a fun, ocean themed evening out. The event built on the success of the first PROMAR Quiz Night, held earlier at the Royal Yacht Club, offering the wider community another opportunity to engage with marine litter prevention topics in a relaxed, social setting.

Following the same successful format as the first event, the evening combined a PROMAR themed pub quiz with a relaxed social atmosphere, giving participants the chance to enjoy a fun night out while learning more about the challenges facing the ocean. Quiz questions covered a wide range of topics, from the causes and impacts of ocean plastic pollution to circular economy solutions being developed across the Caribbean region, alongside general knowledge questions loosely connected to the sea, keeping the evening light hearted and accessible for participants of all knowledge levels.

While 31 people signed up for the event, 15 participants ultimately took part on the night, enjoying a lively and engaging quiz experience centred entirely around marine conservation and ocean awareness. Despite the lower turnout than expected, the atmosphere remained energetic and enjoyable, with participants competing in good spirits while picking up new facts about marine litter along the way.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants sharing that they learned something new about marine litter and plastic pollution while thoroughly enjoying the evening. The relaxed pub quiz format continues to prove an effective and enjoyable way to introduce new audiences to PROMAR's mission of preventing marine litter and reducing plastic waste in the ocean, without the pressure of a formal presentation or workshop setting. Many participants noted that the informal, social nature of the event made it easier to engage with topics that might otherwise feel overwhelming or purely academic.

By hosting PROMAR Quiz Nights at different venues across the British Virgin Islands, Green VI is helping to reach new community members who may not have previously engaged with PROMAR activities, using entertainment and friendly competition as accessible entry points into important conversations about ocean plastic pollution, circular economy solutions, and environmental stewardship. Rotating the event between locations such as the Royal Yacht Club and Cocomaya also helps ensure that residents across different islands, including Tortola and Virgin Gorda, have the opportunity to take part.

Events like this reflect Green VI's ongoing commitment to making marine litter prevention engaging and accessible for all, while building momentum for sustainable ocean practices across the British Virgin Islands and the wider Caribbean region. As PROMAR continues to grow its community engagement efforts, initiatives such as the Quiz Night demonstrate how education, entertainment, and grassroots outreach can work hand in hand to inspire lasting environmental awareness.
