On 29 March 2026, the PROMAR team in St. Kitts and Nevis partnered with the non governmental organisation Blue Conscience for a coastal cleanup at Canada Beach along the Atlantic coastline of St. Kitts. The activity brought together seven volunteers, including students and lecturers from Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), alongside members of the Blue Conscience team.

The initiative marked the first collaboration between the PROMAR team in St. Kitts and Nevis and Blue Conscience and together participants removed marine litter and debris from the shoreline and contributed to wider efforts to protect the island’s coastal and marine environments. Beyond the immediate clean up, the activity created space for learning and reflection, since the volunteers could observed the types of waste most commonly reaching the coastline and discussed the risks that improperly disposed plastics and other debris pose to marine ecosystems.

The cleanup also underlined the value of collaboration between educational institutions, civil society organizations and community volunteers. The partners noted that they look forward to continued joint action in St. Kitts and Nevis to reduce marine litter, raise public awareness and support healthier coastal ecosystems.
