Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) Survey- Training for Enumerators
Building Capacity for Cleaner Oceans: IMA Hosts Enumerator Training for PROMAR Survey
The Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) recently hosted a successful training session for enumerators to support the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Survey on Marine Litter and General Waste, along with an important Material Flow Analysis (MFA) component.
This survey is being deployed under the Prevention of Marine Litter in the Wider Caribbean Region (PROMAR) project in Trinidad and Tobago. The training brought together IMA staff members and interns from both the University of Trinidad and Tobago and the University of the West Indies, fostering collaboration between key academic and environmental stakeholders.
The session focused on building a shared understanding of survey questions and collecting valuable suggestions for improvement. By ensuring enumerators are well-prepared and aligned, the data gathered will be more accurate and meaningful, strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s efforts to tackle marine litter at its source.
The KAP survey and MFA will provide critical insights into how waste is generated, managed, and perceived by communities, supporting better decision-making and sustainable waste solutions. This data collection, management, and visualization effort is a core part of PROMAR’s commitment to protecting marine ecosystems and advancing a cleaner, healthier Caribbean Sea.
