The main objective of the guide is to train stakeholders in the construction and adaptation of bio-fences as an economical and dynamic solution. The aim is to transfer knowledge to stakeholders.

The tool has the following functions:
- To illustrate the construction process of the barrier (materials and resources).
- To demonstrate the socio-environmental variables that influence the adaptation and implementation of the barrier (community dynamics, climate, among others).
- To disseminate bio-fences as alternatives for minimising impacts associated with the contamination of water bodies due to the presence of solid waste.
