On 20th September 2025, 248 passionate and empowered BVI community members joined Green VI for the International Coastal Clean-up. 6 clean-ups took place across 4 islands of the BVI to produce the largest-scale clean-up in the history of Green VI. 3 locations across Tortola saw 110 community members show up and do their bit to reduce marine litter and protect the environment. In the West End, volunteers cleared 225lb of litter, in Road Town, 385lb of litter was collected, and at the PROMAR pilot site of Long Bay Beach East End, a further 99lb of litter was removed. 90 amazing volunteers turned out to Savannah Bay on Virgin Gorda to collect an impressive 130lb of litter, and teams on Jost Van Dyke and Anegada also had a good turnout, collecting a further 128lb of litter.

It was a big day for collaboration, with BVI Filipino Association, VEOLIA, and Tortola and Valley Sounds Lions Clubs bringing the people power to help run the clean up and #seathechange. Teams also spent time sorting the waste, separating out an impressive 477lb of recyclable material from the total 968lb of litter collected. This material was then sent to the recycling centres on Tortola and Virgin Gorda to be processed, reducing the total ending up in landfill. This brings the total number of clean up volunteers for PROMAR in the BVI to 408 and 3600lb of litter collected so far!
