As part of PROMAR's regional implementation, the team from our partner in St. Kitts and Nevis, Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), visited Tortola, British Virgin Islands, to engage directly with Green VI, PROMAR's partner in BVI. The visit focused on Work Package 2 (WP2), which supports practical pilot solutions to reduce marine litter and promote a circular economy across the Caribbean – serving as both proof of concept and scalable models for wider application.

Green VI has established a circular manufacturing operation that recovers plastic waste and converts it into durable poly-wood products. The CFBC team observed benches installed in public parks and beaches, bins, signage, and structural materials, all produced locally from recovered plastic and already in use across BVI. The team also observed the integration of youth into technical and fabrication roles, demonstrating that WP2 pilots deliver social improvement alongside positive environmental impact.

The exchange between CFBC and Green VI illustrates the value of PROMAR's regional approach. By learning directly from one another, implementation partners can move faster, reduce risk, and collectively demonstrate that practical responses to marine litter are replicable across the Caribbean.
