Policy Brief Validation Sessions- Suriname
Collaborative Policy Building: Validation Sessions Strengthen Marine Litter Brief in Suriname
In April 2025, a series of validation sessions took place in Suriname, marking a key step in the development of a comprehensive policy brief aimed at addressing marine litter and advancing sustainable waste management. These sessions, held on April 16th, 17th, and 25th, were organized to gather critical input from a diverse group of stakeholders.
Led by Green Heritage Fund Suriname in collaboration with adelphi, the sessions served as a platform to present the initial draft of the policy brief. Participants included representatives from the private sector, public institutions, and civil society—each bringing unique perspectives, expertise, and concerns to the table.
The primary objective of the validation sessions was to ensure that the policy brief reflects the realities on the ground and aligns with the shared goals of all sectors involved. By facilitating open dialogue and feedback, the sessions helped identify gaps, clarify priorities, and refine proposed strategies.
The insights and recommendations gathered during these sessions will be used to update and strengthen the policy brief prior to its finalization. This collaborative approach ensures that the resulting policy is not only technically sound but also widely supported and practically implementable.
Through inclusive and participatory processes like these, Suriname continues to build momentum toward more effective environmental policies and a cleaner, more sustainable future.
