According to the Waste Flow Diagram (WFD) applied in Cieneguita in 2021, of the 2,780 tons of plastic that enter the waste management system, 95.8% is disposed of in landfills, only 0.7% is recovered for recycling, and 3.5% is disposed of in nature.
Project Goals
- Increase plastic waste valorization.
- Promote community awareness on marine waste issues.
- Link local government actions with marine waste prevention.

- 110,157 community members sensitized.
- 24 beach clean-ups carried out in Cieneguita.
- 17 tons of solid waste prevented from reaching the sea.
