National Policy Dialogue- Paramaribo
In November, the Green Heritage Fund Suriname hosted two key events under the PROMAR (Prevention of Marine Litter in the Caribbean Sea) project: a National Policy Dialogue on 5 November and a Capacity Building Workshop on EPR on 6 November. Both sessions brought together committed stakeholders working toward a cleaner, more sustainable Suriname and showcased the existing interest in and opportunities for collaboration on sustainable waste management and circular economy solutions for Suriname.
5th of November – National Policy Dialogue on Marine Litter Prevention, where Stakeholders from government, academia, and the private sector came together to identify key policy gaps, discuss enforcement challenges, and co-create practical policy solutions using adelphi’s policy prototyping methodology. The dialogue laid the foundation for a national roadmap toward stronger marine litter prevention efforts.
6th of November – Capacity Building Workshop on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Participants explored the fundamentals of EPR, global best practices, circular economy business models, and worked collaboratively to visualize what an effective EPR system could look like for Suriname. The workshop strengthened local capacity to design and implement EPR systems in support of reduced plastic pollution.
