On 12 June, 2026, Green VI hosted their first ever PROMAR themed quiz at the Royal Yacht Club restaurant, Club 1973. In collaboration with the yacht club, the event brought together 34 community members from the British Virgin Islands, most of whom had not yet engaged with a PROMAR activity before. All proceeds from the night were donated to support the youth sailing teams on their upcoming trip to St Thomas in July.

 

The evening was a celebration of marine conservation and ocean awareness, with quiz questions themed entirely around the ocean and key PROMAR initiatives including plastic pollution prevention, circular economy solutions, and environmental stewardship. Participants competed in a fun and engaging format while learning fascinating new facts about the challenges facing our marine ecosystems, sustainable ocean practices, and the innovative solutions being developed across the Caribbean region through the Prevention of Marine Litter (PROMAR) project.

 

Feedback from attendees confirmed that the event was both educational and enjoyable, with many expressing enthusiasm about PROMAR's mission to prevent marine litter in the Caribbean and reduce plastic waste in the ocean. The quiz night demonstrated an innovative approach to community engagement and environmental awareness, using entertainment and friendly competition to raise awareness about critical marine conservation issues while supporting a meaningful community cause.

 

This event exemplifies Green VI's commitment to making marine litter prevention accessible and engaging for all community members in the Caribbean. By combining education, entertainment, and fundraising, the PROMAR Quiz Night successfully introduced new audiences to the project's work while building momentum for sustainable ocean practices and circular economy solutions across the British Virgin Islands and the wider Caribbean region.
